Webinars On Demand: Yield Line Analysis In Practice

One distinction that sets HSS connections apart from open section connections is weak-axis bending of the HSS connecting face, leading us to the ever-intimidating yield-line analysis.AIA Approved CE Webinars On Demand: Yield Line Analysis In Practice Yield-line analysis has been widely used in the analysis of plates to determine flexural capacity, and is a key methodology to design HSS connections under out-of-plane loading. This session aims to demystify yield-line analysis, and clarify the underlying principles behind plastification limit state equations, providing valuable insights for your next HSS connection design.  Earn 1.0 PDH or 1.0 LU upon completion.

Learning Objectives
This webinar will:

  • Understanding the fundamental and straightforward yield line mechanism
  • Exploring the derivation of the plastification limit state equations of the AISC Manual so as to adopt these theories to solve complicated connections
  • Stepping through yield line examples to solve for plastification in both a transverse plate connection and a gapped K-truss connection

Professional Development Hours
You may receive certificate of completion from the Steel Tube Institute (STI) by purchasing and passing a quiz.

  • After watching the video you will need to complete a 10-question multiple choice quiz.
  • Upon correctly answering 7 out of the 10 questions, your PDH or LU certificate will be issued within 5 business days.

Webinar on Demand Fees
The recorded webinar video is free to view. The PDH or LU quiz is available for $25 for HSS Professional Members and $35 for non-members. You will receive access to the webinar and/or quiz in your order receipt.  You may also access them through your account in Past Orders after you have completed your purchase.
