2026 Mastering HSS Connections Series
Fourth installment of the 2026 HSS Mastering HSS Connections series (see below for more details).
AIA Approved CE Webinars On Demand | One Sided Bolting – No “ifs”, “ands” or “Nuts”!
Level: Intermediate, Technical, Engineer, Fabricator

The session will introduce one-sided bolting options for HSS connections that overcome any conditions of limited access to the interior of the tube. Discussion topics will include the technicalities, structural implications, and benefits of one-sided bolting for HSS connections in lieu of welding and through-bolting. Limit states within the supporting HSS member will also be addressed.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify scenarios where one-sided connections are required or preferred
  • Compare one-sided connections to traditional bolted and welded connections
  • Explore references used to evaluate different connection options based on industry standards
  • Assess the suitability of specific structural applications for code requirements
