Title: Mastering HSS Connections: A Jolt of Bolting – How to Use Them in HSS Connections
Date: Wednesday, June 18, 2025
Time: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. CT
Format: Live Webinar
Level: Intermediate, Technical, Engineer/Fabricator

While many fabricators often prefer bolted connections, engineers sometimes grapple with detailing and designing bolted hollow structural steel (HSS) connections effectively. Join us as we dive into the world of bolting options for HSS, covering everything from conventional bolts and through-bolts to access holes and proprietary one-sided bolts. We’ll uncover HSS-specific limit states, recommended details, and provide practical design examples to help you select the ideal bolting solution. Discover how to enhance your HSS bolted connections to streamline fabrication and erection. (1.0 PDH)

  • Assess best practices and critical limit states for bolted HSS connections.
  • Review recommended details and design examples, with a focus on through-bolt connections.
  • Gain insights into proprietary one-sided bolt options and key factors to consider when selecting them.
