Sustainable Strategies in Steel Procurement
Description:
This session will provide steel service centers with practical guidance on evaluating Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and recycled content letters to assess the environmental impact of steel products in their inventory and supply chain. Participants will learn how to interpret Global Warming Potential (GWP) requirements and how to align product offerings with customers’ sustainability goals. The session will also address how to identify and respond to customer sustainability requirements, evaluate mill sourcing options, and communicate environmental data effectively. Finally, we’ll explore common challenges steel service centers face in sourcing, stocking, and shipping sustainable steel—and share strategies to overcome them.

About David:
David Alldian is a strategic business professional with experience in procurement, finance, and analytics. He currently serves as the Purchasing & Inventory Manager at Brown Strauss Steel, overseeing procurement strategy, vendor relations, and inventory optimization. Previously, he worked as a Business Analyst at Brown Strauss. David began his career in finance with roles at Thoma Bravo and Stout, focusing on valuation. He holds a BBA in Finance and Economics from Villanova University. Outside of work, David enjoys skiing, sailing, and hiking.
