Description
Title: HSS Truss Connections
Date: Wednesday, December 6, 2023
Time: 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. CDT
Format: Live Webinar
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
1.0 PDH | 1.0 LU|HSW
When designing a truss comprised of HSS members, it is important to recognize that choosing member sizes with the minimum amount of steel may not always lead to the most successful connection. Considerations such as connection type and failure mode are equally important factors in a cost-effective and adequate connection design. There are rules of thumb and tools available that the connection designer (whether EOR or delegated designer) can follow.
Learning Objectives
The webinar will review:
- Sizing chord and branch members for efficient connection design
- Examples of both properly and improperly designed trusses demonstrating the effects on the
connection design and total cost of the truss - Bolted and welded truss connection details
- A slotted HSS truss connection design example utilizing new AISC 360-22 design provisions
Professional Development Hours
Each participant can earn 1.0 PDH or 1.0 AIA 1.0 LU|HSW and receive a certificate of completion from the Steel Tube Institute (STI).
