THE STI PROVIDES A STRONG VOICE FOR THE INDUSTRY
The Steel Tube Institute represents the entire pipe and steel welded tubular industry in a proactive and positive manner. It provides a source for the media to contact and advances the industry’s viewpoint on a wide range of issues, including: trade, regulatory activities impacting our industry, the benefits of our products vs. competitive materials, trends, new products and applications, etc.
NEW IDEAS AND INNOVATIVE THINKING
Membership in STI includes meetings in which presentations by thought-provoking, well-known guest speakers (from both inside and outside the industry) take place. These speakers often challenge the way you think and do business. They introduce new ideas, viewpoints and paradigms which will encourage you to look at problems and opportunities with a brand new perspective.
YOU HELP UPDATE INDUSTRY-ACCEPTED SPECIFICATIONS AND PRACTICES
The STI provides a forum for its members to establish sub-committees that work on specifications, product development, technology, product and process research and many other areas. Sub-committees can also evaluate current industry-accepted standards and specifications and make suggestions to update technical data and information.
POSITIVE DIALOGUE WITH SUPPLIERS
Most major suppliers to our industry belong to the Steel Tube Institute as Associate Members. Their attendance and participation at meetings enables various committees and groups to discuss the wide range of problems and opportunities related to standards, quality, inventory expectations and other supply-customer matters.
WE PROMOTE OUR INDUSTRY’S BENEFITS
One of the jobs of the Steel Tube Institute is to promote the advantages and benefits of pipe and steel welded tubular products. We promote these advantages vs. competitive materials and other products, and we promote new uses and applications for our products. While our members compete against each other, the STI works to grow entire product categories. Individual product committees promote the advantages of their products to key target audiences — often audiences that member companies don’t reach, such as: architects, the faculty and students of architectural and engineering schools, upper-level, financial and engineering management in customer companies, the trade and business media, etc.
As a member of the STI you’re listed on our website and on all of the promotional materials your product committee produces and distributes. Direct links are provided to your website and information about the products you produce, including size ranges, your capabilities and other data are provided for prospective customers.
